1st and 3rd Grade Resolutions

After trying to upload these pictures for the last few days, I think it will finally work with me! Sorry for the delay, but the beautiful artwork is well worth the wait!!

(Check back at previous posts to read about our New Year's Resolution Illustrations in detail!)
First Grade really enjoyed the idea of being the illustrator! They were also very creative in thinking of goals for 2011! Here is what some of them came up with!

Grant- 1st Grade
Grant's goals is to be nice when he plays with others. (Nice action lines!)

Rachel- 1st Grade

Rachel's goals is to exercise everday. (I love the treadmill!)

Third Grade also came up with some beautiful story-book illustrations of 2011 Resolutions! Take a look at the details!! Very nice job!

Hannah - 3rd Grade
"In 2010, I would not help others or around the house."

"I made a New Year's Resolution to help others and around the house."

"By the end of 2011, I'm going to be the helping queen!"

Being selfless is a great goal to have, Hannah!

Jenna- 3rd Grade
"In 2010, I slept too much."

"I made a New Year's Resolution to start exercising."

"By the end of 2011, I will be strong."

It's definitely a good idea to avoid laziness, Jenna!

Everyone did a great job thinking of goals, now we just have to reach them! Pray for all the students at GCS that they will learn to lean on the strength of the Lord in their efforts to reach their 2011 goals!

New Year, New Goals!

Happy 2011!! I hope everyone had a great Christmas break and safe new year's! I really enjoyed my time off, but I'm glad to be back with all my favorite artists!

This week in art, we are ringing in the new year with some great goals! Art students are learning about illustration and what it means to tell a story with pictures. Each student had to think of a New Year's Resolution for 2011 and illustrate themselves reaching their goal in a story-book fashion . We cannot simply draw a stick person and know what the story is about! So I had to add the challenging requirement of NO STICK PEOPLE! Also, students were required to show some expression on the face of the characters.

Each day this week I will add "My New Year's Resolution" stories from two students in each class, so be sure to check back for more goal-reaching fun! Each story will show the picture first, then the sentence completed by the student. Enjoy!

Illustrated by: Noah- 5th Grade

"In 2010, I did not pray as much as I should have."

"I made a New Year's Resolution to pray before bed."

"By the end of 2011, I will pray every night."

Here's another one!

Illustrated by: Ian- 5th Grade
"In 2010, I played a lot of video games."

"I made a New Year's Resolution to play less video games and to spend more time with my family."

"By the end of the 2011, I will spend a lot of time with my family."

*So what goal did Mrs. Edwards make? Check back at the end of the week to see my story book!*

I'm praying that all of my students and their families have a wonderful year! I also hope you can reach all your goals with the help of our Lord! He has been so good to us!
